Blue Shark
The blue shark is probably the most prolific species of shark on the algarve coast, and in fact the whole world.
They tend to hunt in packs, and in the Algarve you can come across large packs of mainly smaller shark at any time of the year.
Fishing Method
Live or deadbaits suspended in a chum trail is the normal method. Smaller shark are easily handled on light tackle and can give great sport.
Whilst most of the blues are relatively small, the boat best was a fish of 250lbs, so there are a few big ones around.
Season
Blue shark fishing is available 12 months of the year.
