About us
An idea was born!
Late 2003 saw Bob moving to the Algarve to buy an existing big game fishing business, boat, licences, tackle the lot. Deals were made, contracts signed and Tony came over for the summer to make up the team. We had a great year, caught some nice fish, and made some new friends. Sadly the business that was being sold, was not all it seemed to be, so we made the decision to start our own from scratch. New boat, new tackle, new ideas, in fact new everything....
Late 2004, and a contract was signed for a purpose built deep sea fishing boat, designed to fish these waters, offshore big game, to inshore reef fishing. We needed a large deck area, good sized cabin for shelter, the ability to fish in comfort and security up to 60 miles or so offshore. We'll cut a long story short here, after all this is Portugal, not noted for it's speed and adhering to delivery times. We did fish the 2005 season with a temporary boat, with some success, saw loads of white marlin, and we managed to keep all our clients happy, despite the compromise boat.
July 2006 and Reefcat got her bottom wet, now we were cooking. The marlin obliged by visiting the Algarve in good numbers and we had a great start with the new boat. After the trials and tribulations of having a new boat built, and delicately treading the minefield of Portuguese paperwork, we are looking forward to 2007 with great anticipation.

We take our responsibilities seriously, you won't find a better equipped boat than Reefcat. Security and safety is paramount in our minds, not only with respect to the sea, but also with the fish we catch. We can't always guarantee fish, or they'd call it "catching" and not "fishing". We do guarantee that we try the hardest!
We are always open to new ideas, so if you have a method you want to try, or a very "special" lure, just let us know and we'll do our best.
